A brisk start by Civil Service showing what they can do with good attacking rugby as they cut through the Stevenage defence for a try under the posts for No 9 Hayden Cummings conversion by Liam Geraghty 0-7 after 2 minutes. Shocked by the early score Stevenage were quick to gain ground and with their heavier forwards pushed up field and with the prop finally scrabbling over a try with in 7 mins 5-7. Civil Service realised they were in for a long afternoon and play settled down with Stevenage discipline being tested at this new level for them this season, resulting in a penalty converted by Liam Geraghty 5-10 after 16 minutes. The referee issuing several more warnings before handing them a yellow card, this pushed Stevenage to greater efforts and under pressure they managed a well judged kick and chase and in a foot chase the winger gathered and scored under the posts 12-10 after 26 mins. Civil Service lost their shape at this point and Stevenage were playing strongly at with a man down and their prop scored again 17-10 at halftime.
The second half picked up at the same pace and after 10 minutes it was Civil Service No9 Hayden Cummings scoring his second try after some good inter passing that crossed the line under the posts to draw level at 17-17. Stevenage were now under pressure and again after several infringements the referee lost his patience and issued a second yellow card, penalty converted by Liam Geraghty 17-20. The last quarter of the game became fast and furious as both side tested their defences as the pressure built there were a series of free kicks and penalties to Civil Service. Finally as Civil Service edged up the field from yet another penalty they kicked for the line and from a short throw to the front of the lineout Darryl Gore who had threatened all game, charged over for an unstoppable try 17-25 after 64 minutes. Civil Service then maintained the pressure on Stevenage who tried hard but never really threatened after that leaving Civil service with another satisfying away win.
