SUTTON & EPSOM 30 CIVIL SERVICE 25

Civil Service are no doubt having a tough time in this league but spirit is good and the team are playing better rugby each time they go out as shown in the last league game against Shelford where Civil Service achieved one of the highest score against their defence. However they are there own worst enemy putting in such hard work for good periods of time taking the game to the opposition punctuated by one or two poor decisions that cost them dear. That was the story of Saturday against Sutton & Epsom, Civil Service made them look very ordinary and but for luck would have been ahead early on., but a wrong pass was enough although against the run of play for their first try. Both teams knew this was going to be a very physical encounter and so it was as the forwards hammered away at each other up and down and sideways before a Civil Service missed tackle allowed Sutton & Epsom an easy run in under the posts. Civil Service not about to be overwhelmed and fought strongly down to the Sutton & Epsom 5 metre line and were awarded a penalty which was developed into a concentrated forward effort and a try. Civil Service showed they have all the ability to do things at will but in between showed their Achilles heel on more than one occasion losing large amounts of ground cheaply. The Sutton & Epson massed supporters clearly thought their team was going to run away with the game and were thankfully silenced as their nerves set in the last few minutes of injury time with a five minute spell netting 12 points where Civil Service showed how they can play and Sutton & Epsom clung to their win by a mere 5 points.
